A new one-person play starring Tony-Winner John Rubinstein as Dwight D. Eisenhower debuted in early June at the Theatre at St. Clements in New York City. Written by Richard Hellesen and directed by Peter Ellenstein, Eisenhower: This Piece of Ground offers a candid and fascinating fictional reflection on Eisenhower's life. The play draws on many of Eisenhower's memoirs, speeches, and letters, creating a compelling portrait of one of America's most respected leaders.

Thanks to you — our loyal donors — the Eisenhower Foundation will add an original Dwight D. Eisenhower painting to our collection. In honor of the 70th anniversary of Ike’s first term in office, the Eisenhower Foundation was issued a unique matching
gift challenge. If the Foundation raised $20,000 for the 70th Anniversary Presidential Program Series by April 5, 2024, the Estate of Harry and Edith Darby would donate a priceless painting by Eisenhower to the organization.

Eisenhower’s presidency saw huge advancements in science and technology. The double-helix structure of DNA was discovered in 1953, and in 1958, Ike signed into law the National Defense Education Act, which provided increased funding to math, science, engineering, and foreign languages to promote and improve America’s educational system. The Eisenhower Foundation shares in Ike’s vision to increase science literacy and enable the next generation of innovators.
