Presidents Day Match Met!
Thanks to you — our loyal donors — the Eisenhower Foundation will add an original Dwight D. Eisenhower painting to our collection. In honor of the 70th anniversary of Ike’s first term in office, the Eisenhower Foundation was issued a unique matching
gift challenge. If the Foundation raised $20,000 for the 70th Anniversary Presidential Program Series by April 5, 2024, the Estate of Harry and Edith Darby would donate a priceless painting by Eisenhower to the organization.

Eisenhower’s presidency saw huge advancements in science and technology. The double-helix structure of DNA was discovered in 1953, and in 1958, Ike signed into law the National Defense Education Act, which provided increased funding to math, science, engineering, and foreign languages to promote and improve America’s educational system. The Eisenhower Foundation shares in Ike’s vision to increase science literacy and enable the next generation of innovators.
Our lively educators use the alphabet and a correlating card game to encourage students to get to know Ike.

Meet Ike

Post-War
For Dwight D. Eisenhower, the immediate postwar years were filled with change, new challenges, and frustrations. Throughout this entire period, the American people made it clear that they wanted Ike as their president, but he was yet to be convinced. Each time, as he prepared to retire, he was called back to service by his sense of duty.
Nothing Less Than Full Victory
". . . Humility must always be the portion of any man who receives acclaim earned in blood of his followers and sacrifices of his friends. Conceivably a commander may have been professionally superior. He may have given everything of his heart and mind to meet the spiritual and physical needs of his comrades. He may have written a chapter that will glow forever in the pages of military history. Still, even such a man -- if he existed -- would sadly face the facts that his honors cannot hide in his memories the crosses marking the resting places of the dead.
