At Home: A Comparison of the Bookends of Ike's America 𝐅𝐄𝐁. 𝟐𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 • 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝟒-𝟕: This program will examine changes in American life from examining the beginning and end of Dwight Eisenhower's life at the two places he called home. Themes hit on within the National Curriculum Standards for Social Studies: Time, Continuity and Change; and Science, Technology, and Society. Interstate Highway 𝐅𝐄𝐁. 𝟏𝟗, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 • 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝟒-𝟔: Through his experiences in the military, Ike knew the advantage of having an extensive highway system. Therefore, as President he passed The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, the largest infrastructure project in U.S. history. As Americans enjoyed more leisure time in the 1950s, Paint by Number kits became very popular. This craze caught on in the White House, as well. Documenting History 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝟕, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 • 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝟕-𝟏𝟐: As Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight Eisenhower had the unimaginable experience of touring a Nazi concentration camp witnessing the horror that occurred there. The shock and disgust he felt compelled him to ensure that the Holocaust be documented for all to know and remember. Since then, some have questioned the legitimacy of the Holocalust. In this program students will analyze various types of primary sourcdes from General Eisenhower and others that give first-hand accounts of what they witnessed. 𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍 𝐔𝐏! Fingerprint Forensics 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝟏𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 • 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝟔-𝟖: Put on your detective hat and step into the shoes of a 1950s crime scene investigator! In this hands-on forensic science program, students will take and examine their own prints using magnifying tools, identify common fingerprint patterns, and explore how fingerprint analysis helped solve real crimes during the Eisenhower Era.𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍 𝐔𝐏! Earth Day: Forecasting Victory 𝐀𝐏𝐑𝐈𝐋 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 • 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐒 𝟒-𝟔: What role did weather play in the success of D-Day? In this interactive program, students explore how Allied leaders used meteorology to time the invasion. They'll learn the basics of weather prediction and why a brief break in the storm made all the difference on June 6, 1944.𝐒𝐈𝐆𝐍 𝐔𝐏!
