1. Determine how much time you have. The time you have available to spend onsite (not including travel time) with us is the first factor you must determine. Then, choose the programs and IKEtivities you would like to do.
2. Reserve Your Date. Fill out a Field Trip Request Form. Please note, dates are limited and available on a first-come basis. Reservations must be made at least three weeks in advance. There is a ten student minimum requirement.
3. Create a Custom Schedule. Using the information submitted on your request form, an IKEducator will work with you to create a custom field trip schedule to fit your available time.
4. Arrange for Adult Supervision to Optimize a Safe Learning Environment.
• One adult chaperone for every 10 students is required for all student groups.
• One adult for every 5 students is the maximum allowed with all student groups.*
• Every chaperone will be required to sign an agreement acknowledging their responsibilities for the day.
*Extra people beyond that ratio are on their own to purchase tickets and schedule their day. That can be done upon arrival or online at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum website.
Each onsite field trip includes a one-hour guided tour of the Eisenhower Presidential Museum. You may choose from three tour formats:
1) Tell Us Everything - IKEducators will provide lots of information as they lead students through the museum.
2) Essential Questions - IKEducators will provide a short introduction and essential question for each gallery as they lead students through the museum.
3) Guide Books - IKEducation will provide educational activity booklets for students to utilize independently as they explore the museum. IKEducators will be on hand to answer questions and ensure that your group moves through each gallery in the allotted time frame. These activity booklets can also serve as post-visit learning tools in your classroom.
