Biography
Benjamin Francis Hunsicker "Francis" was born December 17, 1924 on a farm one mile east of Morland, KS. He was educated in the Morland School system, graduating high school with the class of 1943. On August 25, 1944 he joined the United States Army and proudly served during World War II as a heavy machine gunner in the Ryukyu Islands campaign known as "Iceberg". The purpose of the strategic initiative was to gain control of Okinawa, the largest of the Islands, as a part of a greater plan to establish key strongholds in the Pacific and force Tokyo's surrender. Hunsicker was discharges October 30, 1946 and returned home to marry hi fiancée Mildred Bell. They had three children and made a life with farming. Courtesy of www.tribute.com
