ROBERT BYRON SERVED IN THE EUROPEAN THEATER. HE ENLISTED ON 24 MARCH 1943 IN CHICAGO, ILLINOIS AS AN ARMY AIR FORCE 405 CLERK TYPIST FOR THE HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS SQUADRON, 302ND TRANSPORT WING. HIS UNIT WAS BASED AT 519TH GROVE BERKSHIRE (ROYAL AIR FORCE STATION GROVE), GREAT BRITAIN. IN 1944 AFTER THE INVASION OF EUROPE; BYRON WAS IN PARIS, FRANCE AND LATER IN BELGIUM IN 1945. SERVICE YEARS: 1943-1946. ARMY AIR CORPS/BASIC TRAINING, CHANUTE FIELD, ILLINOIS; 1943-1946. SERVED IN 302ND TRANSPORT WING. LAST SERVICE BRANCH ADJUTANT GENERAL CORPS; ADJUTANT GENERAL (ENLISTED).
