BIOGRAPHY

Bill served his country in the U.S. Army toward the end of WWII with Battery C, of the 82nd Field Artillery Battalion, from 9 December, 1944, to 15 May, 1946. He was a truck driver involved with the cleaning up prison camps in Japan and the Philippines and attained the rank of Technician 5th Class.

BIOGRAPHY

Clair Kenneth (Kenny) Eye was born November 1, 1921 in Abilene, Kansas; the son of Bert and Emma Vinson Eye. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945. His service number is 6282175. He flew in the PBY, ahead-of-its-time airplane that played a huge part in winning World Warr II: the consolidated PBY flying boat and in a PBM plane, which was a twin-engine American Patrol bomber flying boat designed to compliment the PBY. Eye was the flight engineer, his rank, an Aviation Machinist’s Mate F First Class for the Naval Air Transport Squadron 2 (VR-2 Squadron). A lifetime Larned area resident, he was the manager of the Duckwalls and Alco stores in Larned. He was a member of the Larned United Methodist Church, Larned Area Chamber of Commerce, Larned Golf, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Lodge and Elks. He was a volunteer fireman. BIOGRAPHY

Lt. Col. Erwin H. Ezzes, nicknamed 'Ez', served with distinction in the Army for eight years. One of the highlights of his service was attaining his position as Secretary to the General Staff when he had the privilege of reporting to General Eisenhower, among other Generals. Ezzes had a distinguished military career, earning 13 decorations including the Croix de Guerre, the Letion of Merit and the Order of the British Empire. He was discharged from the Army in 1945. A graduate of the New York Military Academy and the College of the City of New York in 1938, Ezzes was President and CEO of United Artists Television Corp. and a consultant to 20th Century Fox. Erwin Ezzes' papers, collected during his service in London, England, have been contributed to the Eisenhower Presidential Library.
