Biography

Russell graduate from Reading High School, where he played football, basketball, and ran track. He was married for 39 years to Lena Stokes, with whom he had two sons. Russell was employed by Gardener Board & Carton in Lockland, Ohio, and he worked as a millwright for 38 years. He was a member of St John UCC, the Masonic Lodge Military, and the 169th Infantry Regiment, and the 43rd Infantry Division, which suffered more casualties than any other unit in Pacific Campaign. 

Russell was stationed in Solomon Islands, New Calidonia, New Guinea, and the Philippines, and participated in the occupation of Japan.
