Biography
Roque O. Tumpag was born in Cauayan, Negros Occidental, Philippine Islands in 1905. At the age of 18 he left his hometown and joined the Baltimore Steamship Company, serving as deck crew on the SS Archer. By 1943, he enlisted and was assigned to Battery C, 481st AAA AW Bn, and saw action during the Battle of Normandy.
