Biography

Oscar Ayres was born and grew up in the Herington, Kansas, area. He attended Herington High School and played football and basketball. He was an all-star basketball guard with Herington High School's "Big 6" championship team in 1939. 

Ayres World War II service was with the Navy, and he served seven months overseas in the West Pacific before coming back to the San Francisco naval base.
