Biography

Frank Shiner was born in 1925. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served in World War II for the duration of the war. Shiner was stationed upon the USS Enterprise, which was part of 20 battles. On one occasion, a kamikaze flew into their ship. The ship received damage, and 12 men were lost. Shiner spent three years in the Pacific and met his future wife while in port. They had eight children and lived in Seattle and Chicago while Shiner worked driving a truck. The family moved to Denver, as Shiner took a job at the IRS. He was given many citations for his work, which took him to Washington, D.C., and Panama.
