BIOGRAPHY

Marian Hollier served a s a wireless operator in the Women's Auxiliary Air Force from February 1944 to September 1946. Before the war she worked in a construction firm, The George Wimpry Company which built Aerodromes. She learned the Morse code in the Junior Air Corps and later on she joined the Air Training Corps. Hollier trained at RAF Wilmslow then in Blackpool on the Morse code before moving to RAF Ludford Magna with the 101 Squadron. From there Hollier went on to RAF Wickenby with the 626 and 12 Squadron. At this point, Morse code was not being used as much and part of Hollier's duties were to board the aircraft and test the headphones and all the radio equipment.
