BIOGRAPHY

George Tamburello grew up on a farm in N.J. and signed up to join the Army at the age of 18. He trained for and served as an Anti tank gun crewman and got a Combat Infantry badge. He served in North Africa and then Italy, where he was injured by shrapnel from a near by shell, which hit him between his eyes. Fortunately the shrapnel traveled downward in his head saving his life. He received a Purple Heart Medal for his injury. After surgery and recovery, he chose to go back to combat with his buddies.
