Frank Shiner was born in 1925. He enlisted in the Navy at age 17 and served in World War II for the duration of the war. Shiner was stationed upon the USS Enterprise which was part of 20 battles. On one occasion, a Kamikaze flew into their ship. The ship received damage and 12 men were loss. Shiner spent 3 years in the pacific and met his future wife during that time while in port. They had 8 children and lived in Seattle and Chicago while Shiner worked driving a truck The family moved to Denver as Shiner took a job at the IRS.
