BIOGRAPHY

Clyde O. Smith son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd A. Smith, was inducted into the Army January 16, 1941. He was stationed at Camp Funston, Fort Riley, KS until December 31, 1941 then was transferred to Tucson, AZ. . There he guarded the big main railroad bridges and airport. In March of that year, he was moved to Nogales, AZ to patrol the border of Old Mexico. On August 26, 1941 he went on the maneuvers in Arkansas and Louisiana then returned to his troop in Ft. Riley on October 6. His troop was mounted on horses but they converted into a "jeep" troop. He saw a lot of the United States during this service time. The rest of his time in the service is unknown.
