Donald Austin was born and raised in Rhode Island. He an athlete and played some professional baseball. He served in the Army from 1941 -1046. Donald enlisted and parachuted into France during the Normandy, D-Day invasion and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Donald later was wounded, spending some time in a Military Hospital.
