Biography

Tom Barringer, Jr. entered the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was trained in Logistics in the United States. After the completion of his training, he was sent to fight in the European Theater. He commanded a Logistics unit in France and attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to his home in Florence and was the Owner/Manager of ‘Atlantic Outdoor Advertising Company.’ His company specialized in Highway Billboard advertising all over the state of South Carolina. Tom had three children: Raymond Harris Barringer (deceased), Tom R. Barringer III, and Mary Brooks Barringer, all of Florence, S.C.
