Extension Through 2030 Supports Educational Programs, Leadership Development, and Historical Preservation

Kansas residents and businesses will continue to have a powerful opportunity to support educational programming and leadership development through The Eisenhower Foundation, thanks to legislation extending the Foundation’s state tax credit program for an additional five (5) years.

Approved by the Kansas Legislature through House Bill 2464 and signed into law by Governor Laura Kelly, the legislation includes an amendment championed by State Senator Scott Hill of Abilene that extends The Eisenhower Foundation tax credit program through January 1, 2031. The program had been scheduled to expire on January 1, 2026.

The Foundation expressed its gratitude to Senator Hill, State Representative Greg Wilson, members of the Kansas House of Representatives and Kansas Senate, and Governor Laura Kelly for their support of the legislation.

Under the program, eligible Kansas taxpayers may receive a Kansas income tax credit equal to 50 percent of their qualifying contribution to The Eisenhower Foundation. Individual taxpayers may receive up to $25,000 in credits annually, while corporations and financial institutions may receive up to $50,000 in credits, creating a significant incentive for charitable investment in educational and cultural initiatives.

“We are deeply grateful to the Kansas Legislature and Governor Kelly for recognizing the importance of continuing this program,” said Meredith Sleichter, Executive Director of The Eisenhower Foundation. “The extension of these tax credits provides long-term certainty for all Kansans who want to invest in our nationally recognized educational and public programming. Their support helps ensure that future generations can continue to benefit from Eisenhower’s legacy, as well as enjoy the benefits of the tax credits.”

The Eisenhower Foundation serves students, educators, veterans, scholars, and visitors through educational programs, exhibits, leadership initiatives, public events, and outreach efforts that extend far beyond Abilene. During the 2025-2026 school year alone, more than 27,500 students participated in IKEducation programs, engaging with primary sources and leadership lessons drawn from Eisenhower’s remarkable life and career. Thousands more participated in Foundation-supported exhibits, public programs, digital initiatives, and special events throughout the year.

“The extension of these tax credits represents a powerful investment in education, leadership, and civic engagement across Kansas,” said Kyle Campbell, Chair of The Eisenhower Foundation Board of Directors. “Every gift made by fellow Kansans helps us reach more students, create meaningful learning experiences, preserve our shared history, and ensure that Eisenhower’s example of character, service, and leadership continues to inspire future generations.”

Senator Scott Hill (R-24) said the legislation reflects Kansas’ commitment to supporting educational opportunities while preserving the state’s rich history.

“The Eisenhower Foundation, as well as the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum, are two of Kansas’ premier educational and historical institutions,” Hill said. “These tax credits encourage private support for programs that help young people learn about leadership and public service while preserving an important part of Kansas and American history. Ike’s legacy is alive and well here in the heart of America.”

The newest addition to the Abilene campus, the Eisenhower Education Center, is currently under construction and is scheduled to open by summer 2027. The Foundation is in the final stages of its I Like Ike Capital Campaign, currently at 95% of its $17 million fundraising goal.
