Abilene Fire Department 150th Anniversary

Saturday, October 12, 2019

The Fire Department of Abilene, Kansas, will celebrate its 150th anniversary on October 12, 2019, with a unique parade through town featuring fire apparatus from more than 25 Kansas communities. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Eisenhower Presidential Library and end at the Fire Department, 419 N. Broadway, with a bell ceremony honoring past firefighters, an open house and demonstrations. The Abilene Fire Department's new engine #34, featuring President Dwight D. Eisenhower, will make its debut. Eisenhower was the 34th President, and was very proud to be from Kansas, the 34th state.
