  1. Ike Book TALK: "Trail Town" by Ernest Haycox

    July 9, 2018, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Visitors Center Auditorium

In the town of River Bend, the end of the trail for the men who rode in with Texas cattle, Sheriff Dan Mitchell attempts to soothe the growing conflict between the lawless cowboys and the supposedly respectable citizens, and finds himself caught in the middle. Titles in this year's Ike Book Talk series have a connection to Dwight D. Eisenhower, who was a fan of western novels and of author Ernest Haycox. All books in the 2018 Kansas Humanities Council Talk About Literature in Kansas (TALK) series are available to check out from the Abilene Public Library or for purchase at the Eisenhower Presidential Library gift shop. The programs are free and open to the public, and registration is not required.
