  1. Ike Book TALK: "Bugles in the Afternoon," by Ernest Haycox

    November 5, 2018, 7:00 PM @ Visitors Center Auditorium

Rumors of a campaign against Sitting Bull cut through the Cavalry ranks like a cold wind. Who would lead the charge? In "Bugles in the Afternoon," legendary Western writer Ernest Haycox relates a compelling tale of Custer’s famed Seventh Cavalry and its fate at the Battle of the Little Bighorn in a balanced mix of action, exposition, and history. Originally published in 1943, this classic work was reprinted in 2003. Titles in this year's Ike Book Talk series, in partnership with the 2018 Humanities Kansas Talk About Literature in Kansas (TALK) series are available to check out from the Abilene Public Library or for purchase at the Eisenhower Presidential Library gift shop. The book discussion programs are free and open to the public. Registration is not required.
