TALK Program (Film) - The Ox-Bow Incident

Sunday, July 9, 2017

This Oscar-nominated film stars Henry Fonda and features Anthony Quinn and Henry Morgan. A dark movie at the time, a 1943 review of this new release called it, "An ugly study in mob violence, unrelieved by any human grace...supposed to have occurred in Nevada back in 1885. But it might have happened any place, for that matter, and at almost any time. A rancher is reportedly killed by cattle-rustlers and a mob gathers to seek revenge." Join us at 2:00 in the Visitors Center to see how this western drama plays out. Talk about Literature in Kansas (TALK) is a series presented in partnership with the Kansas Humanities Council and the Abilene Public Library. The Best of the West theme celebrates the Chisholm Trail 150th and Dwight Eisenhower's love of western novels and movies. The TALK series is free and open to the public. The books selected for discussion are available to check out from the Abilene Public Library or purchase at the Eisenhower Presidential Library Gift Sho
