#GivingTuesday Donations to Support IKEducation

Today, November 28th, is #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving. #GivingTuesday is a celebration of America's greatest traditions: generosity, entrepreneurialism, and community. Everyone has something to give. You can give time or expertise, monetary donations large or small, simple acts of kindness, food or clothing.

The Eisenhower Foundation invites you to join the global movement by supporting IKEducation, the innovative K-12 program offered both onsite at the Eisenhower Presidential Library, Museum, and Boyhood Home and online at www.EisenhowerFoundation.net. Donations on #GivingTuesday will go toward Ike's Field Trip Fund that covers the costs of programming, transportation, and lunches for schools visiting the Eisenhower Presidential Campus in Abilene, Kansas.

As one teacher from Eskridge, Kansas, said about her IKEducation experience, "The sixth grade teachers feel it is very important to understand Kansas history. We know that some of our students have never left the county that they live in."

One of IKEducation's most popular programs is D-Day: Primarily Omaha Beach, which uses soldiers' first-hand accounts of the Normandy landings to bring history to life. After reading their soldier's personal story, each student examines and interacts with artifacts that were described by that soldier. Pictured to the left is a student participating in D-Day: Primarily Omaha Beach, donning some of the military supplies that were standard issue during World War II, such as a flotation belt, shovel, dog tags, and helmet.
