Lunch & Learn: "Forced Freedom" with Elizabeth Wenger

Thursday, September 27, 2018

As the Second World War ended, the Allies in Germany were faced with a sensitive issue - how to limit or end the spread of Nazi propaganda without restricting freedom of speech as Germany returned to democracy. This program will look at America's creative responses to the problem and how they shaped the post-war period in ways still evident today. Elizabeth Wenger received her PhD from UC Berkeley in 2015, has taught at the University of Illinois at Chicago and at Berkeley, and is currently an intern at the Eisenhower Presidential Library. This program is free and open to the public, thanks to donations from the Friends of the Eisenhower Foundation. A light lunch will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
